Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) and Löhnert Elektronik have jointly developed the R&S QAR50-R, a fully automated turnkey solution for Radome and bumper testing based on the R&S QAR50. T&M’s equipment offers high flexibility and can accurately test automotive radomes and bumpers in the automotive radar frequency range at the end-of-line. The new model combines the imaging capabilities of the R&S QAR and R&S QAR50 allowing reliable and accurate testing of large bumper areas.
According to the company, the t&M equipment offers extremely high throughput and yield made possible by the light and compact setup of the R&S QAR50-R that allows for precise positioning of the measurement antennas. Previous measuring equipment was bulky which made it a challenge for them to measure complex and physically large production parts. But the design of the R&S QAR50-R allows for greater flexibility and allows it to reach positions that are almost unmanageable with other available test systems.
The equipment based on the R&S QAR and R&S QAR50 allows for reliable and accurate testing of large bumper areas. Both instruments are optimized for measuring automotive radomes and smaller exterior vehicle components. An optionally available verification set allows radome and bumper suppliers to trace results back to national and international standards. the R&S QAR50-R is designed with a focus on compactness and low weight to be compatible with standard 6-axis robots. Due to its design, the R&S QAR50-R reaches positions that are almost unmanageable with other available test systems.
